Back to Basics Lecture Series - Property Treaty
The lecture will be presented by Ciaran Waters, and will focus on the essentials of Property Treaty reinsurance, providing an overview of various hurricane, earthquake and wildfire loss examples, as well as insight into Reinsurance strategy, structuring and pricing. Ciaran is the Lead Underwriter for the United States Property Treaty book at IQUW Syndicate 1856. He joined in April 2021 from Faraday Syndicate 435 where he was Head of US Property Treaty from 2018. Prior to those positions he was at Ascot 1414 for 12 years in a number of analytical and underwriting roles. Ciaran has written a broad range of reinsurance products including US and WW Cat, WW Risk XL, International Retro and Excess Bloodstock. He holds the ACII designation and has a BSC in Statistics and Mathematics.

Velodrome Cycling Session 2025
The Under 35s are excited to announce our fourth annual charity Cycling Event taking place at Herne Hill Velodrome on Wednesday 16th April 2025.
Following the positive feedback received during our previous bike rides to Brighton, Windsor and Essex, this year we have teamed up with Herne Hill Velodrome to experience an unforgettable introductory session to velodrome cycling.
The 2 hour session will include coaching from a professional cyclist, and will aim to get everyone comfortable riding a fixed geared bike before heading up onto the velodrome where the focus will be on group riding, bike handling and track technique.
Following the session there will be the opportunity to spectate as some more experienced riders take on the course to compete, with post-cycle refreshments available.
Each ticket covers a charity donation for the session, and includes all rental equipment including bike, helmet and gloves, as well as coaching from a professional cyclist.
When: 3:30pm on 16th April 2025

Back to Basics Lecture Series - Casualty
Whether you are new in the industry or would like to broaden your knowledge of a different subject matter, this will be a great opportunity to learn about fundamental concepts and themes in reinsurance.
This lecture will be presented by Tom Chivers, Chief Underwriting Officer for Long Tail D&F business at Volante, and will focus on the essentials of Casualty insurance, providing an overview of its various sub-classes and the nuances of writing long tail business. Prior to Volante, Tom underwrote reinsurance for QBE and before that Chubb, and started in Lloyd’s a long time ago writing direct political risk and terrorism business.
